Football Australia launch the Our Game Women & Non-Binary Persons in Media Program

Football Australia has today launched the Our Game Women & Non-Binary Persons in Media Program, to address the underrepresentation of women and non-binary persons in media.

The Leadership & Development Pillar of Legacy ‘23 aims to ensure that the push for gender parity in football is not limited to players. Football Australia recognises that increased women’s participation and leadership across the entire football ecosystem is critical to the future of our game, including media and communications.

Through #OurGame, our vision is to build capacity in women’s leadership, on and off the field, to shape the future of Australian sport and foster a more inclusive and welcoming culture for all.

The Our Game Women & Non-Binary Persons in Media Program, funded through Legacy ’23, invites up-and-coming young women or non-binary persons to apply for an internship to be a part of this exciting program, with an initial focus on the following areas:

  • Photography
  • Videography
  • Communications & Digital Media

Through this program, Football Australia will provide successful applicants with mentoring opportunities, education, training and on-the-job experience, to assist in building the individual's portfolio, making them more employable following the internship.

The first phase of the program will take place across two intakes, with each intake lasting eight months. The first intake will kick off in January 2023 and will focus on Photography and Communications & Digital Media, with the second intake to focus on Videography and Communications & Digital Media (kick-off date TBC).

Applications for the first intake are now open, closing on 10 December 2022. More information and links to apply can be found below:
